Sleeping Beauty – The Panto

Teatru Manoel, Valletta, Sunday 23rd December 2018 to Sunday 6th January 2019

There’s nothing like a good pantomime at Christmas and this year at Valletta’s historical  ‘Teatru Manoel’, you can enjoy the timeless Sleeping Beauty.  The amazing cast will take you along with a tale of good versus evil, with a few cheeky gigs along the way, fun costumes and scenery. Going to the panto with your family is a great Christmas tradition.

Magical Christmas Concert 2018

MCC Valletta, 15th – 16th December 2018

The much-loved Magical Christmas concert is back for its 4th consecutive year at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.  Shine a Light along with Mickey and Minnie Mouse and the Maltese National Children’s Choir during this fun-packed concert that’ll be guaranteed to make the whole family sing and dance together and create happy Christmas memories.

Malta Youth Orchestra Christmas Classics Concert

Pjazza Kastilja, Valletta, 27th December 2018

For this year’s spectacular edition of its annual Christmas concert the Malta Youth Orchestra will team up with fellow youth ensemble, Big Band Brothers Jnr, to bring some jazz to Christmas time. They’ll get you in the festive mood with a selection of Christmas-themed swing, jazz and pop numbers.

Christmas Pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk

It’s that magical time of year again and MADC is back with its 40th anniversary panto, Jack and the Beanstalk.

All his life the young Jack has only ever had one dream, to be a famous knight.  Unfortunately, as a boy from a poor family who can barely pay the rent, there is little chance of a life full of excitement and danger. One day Jack’s village is attacked by giants who kidnap the girl he loves, his moment to be the hero is here. Will Jack be able to go from zero to hero? Follow his adventure with the amazing cast this Christmas and see if Jack can save the day!

Natalis Notabilis 2018 – Malta’s Christmas Village

Rabat, 7th – 13th December 2018

Enjoy a fabulous Christmas Wonderland at the historical centre of Rabat during Natalis Notabilis 2018.  With around a 100 stalls, Malta’s Christmas Village will live in the narrow and intertwining streets of Mdina’s suburbs.  Showcasing local artisans, you can try a selection of Maltese treats such as ‘Qaghaq tal-Ghasel’ (Honey Rings), ‘Qastan tal-Imbuljuta’ (hot chocolate with chestnuts) and ‘Kage tal-Istaniata’ (Maltese traditional coffee).  Father Christmas will be in residence at his own house at Palazzo Xara, along with stalls dedicated to sweets, toys and activities to make Christmas even more magical for your little ones.  Natalis Notabilis will also host theatrical performances such as the ‘Nativity Train’ at the Franciscan Friary’s beautiful Secret Garden; Also, the 500-year-old Ta’ Giezu Church will be filled with the sound of Christmas Carols from a Gospel Choir. All in all, a truly wonderful Christmas event for all the family.

Ghajnsielem Live Crib – Bethlehem in Gozo

This year the tenth edition of Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem, the event that’s enchanted thousands of visitors every year, is back again.  The nativity village is situated by Ghajnsielem’s main square on the island of Gozo.  Known as “Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem”, this life-size crib, constructed on 20,000 square meters of field comes to life during the month of December with about 150 actors taking visitors back in time to Judea over 2000 years ago.   The atmosphere is just breath-taking and a lifelike re-enactment as real horses turn the mills, villagers work the land, shepherds tend their flocks and a poor unknown couple tend their newborn baby in a manger.  The story of Christmas is brought to life in front of your eyes.
