... explore all that the islands have to offer!

There’s no doubt that Malta’s capital city – Valletta – is one of the best spots on the island. Better still – thanks to several ferry services, Valletta is well connected to other towns in Malta and Gozo, allowing you to explore all that the islands have to offer.

Here’s how you can get to Malta’s tourist hotspots and cultural landmarks in less than an hour.

Valletta to Sliema

The Valletta-Sliema ferry is quick, inexpensive and convenient. What’s more – it’s also a fun way of travelling without getting stuck in a time-consuming traffic jam. Ferries from Valletta to Sliema run from Valletta-Sliema Ferry point, which is right next to the Valletta United Waterpolo pitch. A return ticket costs € 2.80, and there’s also a night service starting at 19:45.

Valletta to the Three Cities

Valletta is just a stone’s throw away from the fortified cities of Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua. If you get the Valletta-Senglea ferry, you can easily get there in 10 minutes – just in time for a quick lunch at one of Senglea’s cafes and back. The ferry terminal is located near the Upper Barrakka Gardens. You can easily get to the station by going to the Upper Barrakka Gardens and using the lift at the very back of the Gardens.

You’ll immediately see the signs that will lead you to the ferry terminal. A round trip costs €2.80, and you can purchase the ticket upon boarding.

Valletta to Gozo

Malta’s sister island is worth a visit. Gozo is known for its picturesque countryside, pristine beaches and quaint villages. Thankfully, visiting Gozo is quite straightforward:

  • If you’re driving: Rent a car and drive to Cirkewwa. From here, you can take the ferry to Mgarr (Gozo). Prep your phone or your camera during the crossing, as the scenery is nothing short of spectacular.
  • If you’re not driving: you can opt for a fast ferry that will take you straight to Gozo from Valletta. There are two fast ferry terminals located in Valletta’s Grand Harbour and two different companies to choose from. You can use your Tallinja card to pay for your fast ferry trip. You also have the option to book your trip online from either Virtu Ferries or Gozo Fast Ferry

Valletta to Comino

A Valletta to Comino ferry doesn’t exist (as of yet). Therefore, you have to get to Cirkewwa by taxi or bus, where you need to take a special ferry that goes to Comino. The trip takes around 25 minutes in total and takes you directly to the scenic Blue Lagoon. You can also book your ticket online from Comino Ferries
