  • Oct 15, 2018

Malta is rapidly becoming a hub of blockchain technology & crypto-currency organisations...

How Malta’s Fast Becoming A Blockchain And Bitcoin Hub

Times are changing in the Maltese economy. Last year, Malta achieved the highest economic growth out of all the countries in the European Union. This year, Malta is embracing the crypto-currency trend and this will create exciting new opportunities to further boost the economy. Crypto-currency has been slowly creeping its way into the mainstream over the past few years – by now you will definitely have heard of Bitcoin at least, and Blockchain, and can expect it to become a part of daily Maltese life sooner than we think. There’s huge benefit to using crypto-currency and this has been recognized by the Malta Ministry for Education and Employment (MEDE).  The MEDE are working closely with the Learning Machine Group (LMG) to ensure the Malta business community is ready to take advantage of the financial benefits of crypto-currency. Malta’s Stock Exchange has founded a Blockchain Committee to start making plans for introducing crypto-currency to Maltese daily life.

Malta’s Crypto-Economy Hubs

We’re beginning to see crypto-economy hubs appear across the island and major crypto-currency organisations are starting to find Malta appealing as a place to start moving in. Neufund, the Berlin based blockchain fundraising platform, recently announced its plans to expand its operations in Malta;  Binance the world’s biggest crypto-currency exchange have been showing interest in Malta; and OKEx, one of the leading digital asset exchange companies, have also confirmed that they will have an operational base on the island.  Others are sure to follow, with business leaders like Justin Sun, the founder and CEO of TRON, the decentralised entertainment platform, recently saying that his company was “seriously considering” a move to Malta.  As the crypto-currency organisations move in, there will be new jobs and business opportunities in abundance.

To help build momentum, to educate the local community and to introduce new concepts for using crypto-currency in Malta, two events have been organized in the coming months to get everything kick-started.
