Valletta at night is buzzing with life

Valletta is the newest hotspot in Malta in the evenings. This resurgence in popularity has been anticipated for years. The theatres have never stopped being busy, but with the theatre scene bursting with events, bars and restaurants have sprung up in almost every side street to entertain punters.

For the culture vultures, events are regularly held at The Manoel Theatre, St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, The Old University, The Old Opera House, MFCC and The Fosos where live music events are held including Isle of MTV each Summer.

These bars have created there own scene – ethnic and world music at Gurgar on Republic street and jazz on the steps near The Bridge Bar by the Victoria Gate.  Gin nights and whiskey nights have become the norm and al fresco dining is offered at almost every restaurant as they have spilled out onto the beautifully lit, baroque streets.

During the British period, Strait Street was known as The Gut and the military would spend their off nights cruising the bars and clubs in this alley. Today, the doors have been re opened – some not having had their decor changed at all – are once again, full of bodies, music, food, drink and memories.

But the best thing about all of these locations? No need to get a taxi, no need to get a bus, you are steps away from the luxury of our boutique hotel in the very heart of Valletta.

And of course, what’s stopping you having your aperitivo or nightcap on your very own terrace, perhaps, in your very own hot tub…..?
